Marvin-Gaye-arms-stretched-out-black-and-white.jpg

A new Marvin Gaye album, titled ‘You’re the Man’, will be released by Motown on March 29 – four days before what would have been the soul legend’s 80th birthday.

This will be the fourth posthumous Marvin Gaye album to hit shelves since the singer’s tragic passing in 1984. The 17-track release consists of select solo and “non-soundtrack” compositions that Gaye recorded in his studio in 1972. Besides the forthcoming LP’s title track, most of the songs that will feature on the album have not been available until now.

Ahead of the release, the lead single, Salaam Remi’s ‘My Last Chance’ remix, has been made available for streaming. Listen to the track below.

Back in June of 2018, Dr. Dre announced that he is producing a film about Marvin Gaye. Learn more here

CALVIN HARRIS CALLS DUBSTEP “NAZI HEADBANGER MUSIC” IN TWITTER BEEF

calvin-harris-drnk.jpg

UPDATE 2/1 | Calvin Harris has responded to the widespread backlash against his “nazi” tweet yesterday, saying that his intent was to address “one abusive guy,” rather than the whole genre of dubstep.

714 people are talking about this

Twitter beefs happen — we get it. Feelings get hurt, arguments get heated, it’s fine. What’s not fine is when you start hurling insults like “nazi” at undeserving targets, especially when the person hurling that insult is Calvin Harris and screenshots exist.

Earlier today, Apashe called out Calvin Harris for apparently ripping elements of his “Majesty” music video for his own “Giant” video with Rag’n’bone Man. Another producer, Ten Graphs, one of our 2019 artists to watch, started tweeting at Calvin in support of Apashe.

Over the course of the tweets and after a certain point, it seems that Calvin had had enough because then he sent this:

Now, yeah, free speech and all that. But come on… be smarter. Screenshots exist. The internet never forgets. This is a REALLY stupid thing to say. As of right now, the screenshot is making its rounds on Twitter, and of course the original offending tweet is deleted. But that won’t help him escape this massive mistake.

CHRIS BROWN HAS BEEN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF RAPE IN FRANCE

Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of rape in France

R’n’b singer Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

A 24-year-old woman has alleged the r’n’b singer raped her at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Paris on January 15, according to Closer. The accuser says she was invited back to the hotel with other women, but was later alone with Brown.

Brown’s bodyguard and a friend have also been arrested by French police after she claimed they both “abused her”.

Closer reports that Brown was taken into custody on January 21 and still remains there.

Brown received five years probation and six months of community service in August 2009 after assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. In 2016 he was accused of threatening a woman with a gun and last year he was arrested on a charge of felony battery.

Chris Brown’s team are yet to comment on the rape allegation.

Drug Overdose at Australian Music Festival Suspected to be Snake Bite!

Drug overdose at Australian music festival suspected to be snake bite

On December 29 at the Australian music festival Beyond The Valley, 20-year-old Callum Edwards was rushed to the hospital after collapsing from what was assumed to be a suspected drug overdose from an unknown substance. Edwards passed away three days later and his death turned into a matter of public discourse for Australia’s ongoing national debate about the legality and practicality of making drug testing legal at music festivals.

The story of this young man’s passing took a dramatic turn yesterday after The Herald reported that those treating Callum Edwards in hospital found tiger snake venom in his system. In addition to this, it still remains unclear if any drugs were in Callum’s system at all.

Tiger snakes are a highly venomous snake species found in the southern regions of Australia. On average, there is at least one death a year from a tiger snake and the mortality rate from untreated bites is reported to be somewhere between 40 and 60 per cent.

“We definitely know there was a reptile involved,” Callum’s mother Lynette told The Herald.

The set of conditions leading to Callum’s collapse at the festival are not yet fully understood. His brother Liam Edwards, who has been vocal in discrediting claims that Callum’s death was due to a drug overdose, was planning to meet him at Beyond The Valley but arrived too late and learned that Callum had already been flown to the hospital.

Police have said that “the circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be determined, however, it is not being treated as suspicious.”
