The Chicago singer’s death was announced by Nervous Records, a label she worked with on numerous occasions on tracks such as ‘Nite Life’ and ‘Learn 2 Luv’.
Having started out as a gospel singer, she went on to work continuously with Nervous from 1994 until 2016, releasing both of her albums – 1998’s ‘Higher Things’ and 2006’s ‘My Destiny’ – on the New York label. She had eight number one songs on the US Club/Dance charts, the first coming in 1999 with ‘Unspeakable Joy’.
Her career included collaborations with the likes of Mood II Swing, Masters At Work and François K. A recent collaboration came with Paul Woolford on his 2018 track ‘Hang Up Your Hang Ups’.
DJs and members of the dance music community have been paying tribute to the singer. See some of them below.
Kim English was incredible. I have been absolutely in awe of her voice since she started to release music in the 90s. It was a dream to be able to work with her in any context one day, and I felt honoured that we made it happen last year. You are irreplaceable. Rest In Peace.
Just heard the sad news that Kim English has passed away. Her releases never left my box through the 90’s. Nite Life, Learn 2 Love and Supernatural, amongst others, are House classics. My thoughts & love to all @NERVOUSRECORDS & NY House fam. https://t.co/PZuELzIdYJ
Another sad loss of a star of our scene gone too soon RIP Kim English thank you for the great music. Deepest condolences to family friends and all the music family Mike and and the team at Nervous Records #NYC. https://t.co/obddNnhXyC
The first EP of 2019 for DJ Pharaohz has landed! Two special tracks with one that is the second collaboration with DJ Sax London this one being called ‘Sun Down’ intended for that Ibiza warm summers evening turning gently into the night time embracing the island’s beach shores. Plus the title track ‘DEN’ a blistering synth/bass sing along track paying homage to the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Den.
The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint – widely considered one of the greatest live electronic performers of all time – has passed away at age 49.
Flint played a major roll in establishing dance music’s credibility in the mainstream for his work with The Prodigy with smash hits such as ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Breathe’ – both of which topped the UK singles chart in 1996.
Tributes to the vocalist from the dance music community continue to pour in online from a plethora of respected artists, DJs, producers, labels and others.
Scrolling through, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook today, it becomes abundantly clear that Keith Flint’s rave-induced energy, high-octane sound and unparalleled stage presence touched every corner of clubland and beyond.

He played to just 50 people at the show, which was presented by Alon Shulman’s Universe, the brand behind the legendary Tribal Gathering festival.
The set was recorded and will come out as an album titled ‘Live At Stonehenge’.
To make it even more of a milestone event, Carl Cox also joined him on the decks or a special back-to-back set.
On playing there, Oakenfold said: “I am so lucky to be able to share my music from such an iconic site. The energy here is like nowhere else on earth, and this is reflected in my music.
“Despite having performed at incredible events and locations all across the globe, sunset at Stonehenge is by far the most magical moment to have the privilege to experience.”
Alon Shulman said: “Together, Paul and I wanted to create something completely unique. Being known for our ground-breaking performances and collaborations it is fitting that our first special moment takes place at Stonehenge”.
The event is part of a new series by Universe called Origins, which “incorporates music, film and performance alongside incredible production.”
